How do we integrate technology into teaching? How do we ensure that education is changing as fast as the latest technological advancement? Does every child in the world have an opportunity to this basic human right? How much transformation has education undergone?
We live in a society where electronics rule our worlds, every single person roams around with a mobile phone with access to all types of information at your fingertips, and our life is nothing without these gadgets. Smartphones, laptops, and internet have taken over the world, and we are looking to implement the technology in new and better ways with each passing day. Children today, learn how to use a gadget before learning how to read or write.
Technology is changing at a faster rate than most of us average humans ever anticipated, and to breed innovation, higher education institutions need to be structured in ways that allow for flexibility and spur creativity and entrepreneurial thinking. Technology is a catalyst for promoting a culture of innovation in a more widespread, cost-effective manner, and provides compelling models for higher education leaders to consider collective action.
Digital environments are now widely considered to be ripe for new ideas, services, and products, however, progress in learning analytics, adaptive learning; and a combination of cutting-edge asynchronous and synchronous tools will continue to advance the state of online learning and keep it compelling, Today technology has greatly impacted education, we now have infinite access to education; books, audios, tutorials, images, videos to the extent where formal learning is available online worldwide all made possible by technology. Teachers have always struggled to get students to engage with a subject more than on a superficial level, whereas today students are able to independently discover solutions in an exciting way.
In the past, learning has always been deemed an unattainable and intimidating prospect, where each learner along with their family had to make great strides in reaching areas where schools were available, today we have what we have interactive digital classrooms, those classrooms which employ modern technology and communications in order to provide students with information. They use that information online, or in a traditional classroom with their teachers and fellow students in order to learn new lessons.
What modern technology enables us to do is to introduce elements of gratification into the education process, which should improve student motivation and information retention, as well as their ability to do their own research and work in teams. It also allows for individualization of learning and encourages students to seek out the content that they like. We live in an era, where parents want to know and track their children’s progress, how are their learning capabilities, are they coping with all their class subjects etc because they realize the benefits of technology and how they impact learning.
