Holidays allows students to rest from the stresses and struggles of the classroom, have enough time before they resume classes, hopefully re-energized and rejuvenated to face their books. Long school holidays help students clear their heads, relax a little and stretch their brains in different ways.

Meanwhile, others believe that during the long holiday’s children forget a lot of what they’ve been taught and every parent knows they get very bored.

During the school holidays, students don’t bordered with regular lectures coming in from their teachers every day, which makes it the perfect time to organise their notes from their weeks of learning, write up summaries for each subject and create study books with copies of worksheets or equation lists, they provide a quick and highly effective source of distilled information. So when exam time creeps up, there are no excuses for cramming information the night before.

It is advisable for students to get a head start over the holidays which will reduce stress and improve their marks down the track. Your brain is a muscle and like all muscles needs consistent activity to perform at an optimal level. This is why you should start to do some study during the holidays so your brain is warmed-up and good to go, but most school students spend their breaks partaking in one or two activities like internships, part-time jobs, school activities, lazing around, and of course, vacationing

The needs of society and the cultural patterns sometimes constitutes schooling and educational strategies as religion plays an important role in the holiday season, the religion calendar then commands the break, so that students can have ample time to partake in the rituals and traditions of seasonal holidays.

Consequently, long school holiday can be either constructive or destructive to our students and with our today’s technologically overloaded students, one of the emerging concerns against a prolonged vacation is increased chances of deviation from constructive activities.

When students are on a break, they are no longer working their brain at full capacity all day, every day. The brain needs regular exercise to keep working at its best, like when you stop working out at the gym for a few weeks and you drop back your fitness levels, it takes time to get back to the level you were once at. Doing low level study throughout the break allows your teenager to keep their brain active and helps stay accustomed to working on problems, meaning when they return to school, they’ll be the first in their class to pick up where they left off and will have a good idea of what is coming up next term across their subjects so that there isn’t a frantic rush to the library just before an assignment is due.

Actually we know that life is so busy, now that we all need time to switch off, whether that means sitting by a pool or dancing the night away; you need to leave your worries behind you, let off some steam and have a good time on holiday. And research shows that most people exercise more on holidays than during a regular schooling, you can have a swim at the pool or a stroll around the resort in the evenings but for most people this is tough than walking long distance each day. Your body also needs vitamin D from the sun, that occasional week in the sun is very good for you. You come back refreshed, in better form, ready to take on the world and of course you generally look better too. A good night sleep, fresh air, laughter and relaxation, all things that holidays give you, but students educating themselves outside of the core subjects they learn at school in the holiday is a fantastic way to train them about new and bigger contexts.
