NEW FACE OF LEARNING

The use of technology in the classroom has simply given education a new lease of life allowing teachers and learners to approach old ways with new ways. Learning now has a rich variety of flavour that allows students to enjoy every bit of the learning activity.

Some of these new methods include:

Online Learning.

With online learning, you can turn your computer into a classroom, and learn from work, home and with colleagues without having to leave your home. Allows you to learn at the rate, space and time that works best for you. All manuals, assignments, tests, and exams are completed online and instructors are also online to help and guide the learner.

Gamified Based Learning.
Learning through the use of games is one of the teaching methods that has already been explored especially in elementary and preschool education. By using games, students learn without even realizing. Therefore, learning through play or ‘Gamification’ can be very effective at any age. It is also a very useful technique to keep learners motivated. Through gamification, students can have fun while learning.

Blended Learning.

Blended learning isn’t new, but it is swiftly becoming more integrated. This combine both face to face and online learning opportunities together. Teachers combine online and face to face methods to students so there can be diversity in learning. Using blended learning approach will increase learner’s retention rate and increase outside the classroom learning also.

Mobile Learning.

The fact that mobile devices are easily available and affordable has created the chance to learn from them. Whenever a student is confused with his/her classroom work, he/she can instantly use her phones to clarify the issue on the internet. Learners can easily think and reason due to early exposure to mobile devices. The use of mobile device to learn, however, has helped to cut down the cost of producing learning materials and reduce the time taken to develop online courses.

 Social Learning.

Social media undoubtedly has huge and strong advantage not only in the education world alone but also in the business world. Students can create a group(s) on social media and add their classmates to share and useful information like assignment. Here, they can also discuss problems, experiences, and share ideas without publicly doing it on a larger platform.

Self-Study.

This is also a method that has been widely adopted by almost all students. Students can use Wikipedia and other websites to search for materials to read and learn more on particular subjects taught in class, assignments, projects, and thesis. Subject matter experts available on the websites can also help to shed more light on student’s Subject inquiries and help them clear their doubts.

Micro Learning.

This reduces work load because mini bytes of learning materials are available to students to learn with. It could be few minutes video or a single page document.

These new methods of learning, makes learning to be more exciting and engaging and they make learners be more sociable, tech savvy and up to date with the latest learning materials, it has also increased learner’s participation in the learning process. They also make learning process to be more engaging, learner centered, interactive and more personalized.
