To gain an admission into a university in Nigeria, isn’t just about writing jamb, and passing the university cut off mark of “200”, there is more to it and this is the prerequisite for you to gaining admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria. After the purchase of your desired institution’s post-utme form and you have written your jamb, it is important for you to know the processes involved in post- utme process.
The steps include;
Online Screening: The College authority will invite suitably qualified candidates who desire to be admitted for any of the programmes run by the institution to apply for their Pre-Admission screening exercise. Interested candidates are to complete the Pre-Screening form online and upload required documents. This screening exercise is to ensure the validity of student’s result. Some schools demand candidates to upload relevant documents on their admission portal to cross-check it with the details sent by JAMB. Documents to get ready: O’level result, jamb result, birth certificate, certificate of origin, passport, online admission screening registration print out, jamb details
Physical Screening: In this case, candidates sit down for a test conducted by the school.
Most schools demand candidates to appear physically at screening venue on a date fixed by the school. This is where candidates will present the above-listed documents to the school to check for their validity. a schedule date is normally set for this.
Test: In this case, candidates sit down for a test conducted by the school, and they are expected to pass a certain percentage for them to be considered for an admission.
Interview Screening and Test Screening are usually conducted for Direct entry candidates. Since JAMB has issued warning to all institution to stop conducting any form of examination for UTME candidates, Online and Physical screening are usually used for UTME candidates.
Yet, some schools still conduct examination/interview for UTME candidates, so don’t be surprised if you come across any. This is popularly called Post-UTME.
